Vijaya has studied the Vedas and Shastras at the legendary Sringeri Sharada Peetham, one of the four Advaita centres of education established by Shankaracharya in 800 AD, achieving the sahitya degree in Sanskrit literature and the text of Rig Veda.
Later, at the Maharaja Sanskrit University College, Mysore, he earned the ‘Vidwat’ degree in the disciplines of Naveena Nyaya - medieval Indian logic and Advaita Vedanta - the system of metaphysics expounded by Adi Shankara. He holds a master’s degree in Sanskrit from the Karnataka State Open University and a Ph.D. in the subject of 'Yoga Cikitsa.'
Vijaya embodies a burgeoning knowledge of Sanskrit literature, Vedic texts, and ancient yogic philosophy, adding a unique perspective to his practice that finds relevance in our present day. While in Mysore, Vijaya learned Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga system and qualified to the Advanced Series, at which time, he started teaching classes in a small yoga shala at the Shankara Vilas Sanskrit School, grabbing many devoted students.
He taught Sanskrit and yoga at Teacher Trainings courses across Asia and Europe, in collaboration with Alexander Medin, yoga teacher and the founder of the association "Yoga for Livet" (Yoga for Life).
Vijaya is currently writing a book about the deeper spiritual aspects of yoga. To share his knowledge within the field, Vijaya started a Yogagurukula in his home village Pandeshwar from where he teaches presently.
